What are extension ladders?

Extension ladders are made up 2 or 3 sections that fit together and are typically used for reaching hard to reach areas. They can  be adequately stretched out to their most extreme length through sliding the pieces separated either with a pulley system, or manually. While choosing the length of your extension ladder, make sure to pick the length which is of a suitable in order to reach beyond the height you need in order to be sure it will be high enough.

As their name suggests, The Work at Height Regulations 2005 are a set of legal requirements which must be followed by all workers and workplaces where work is being carried out at height. They were introduced as a measure to help reduce injuries and deaths caused by falls from height at work. Falls from ladders and raised work surfaces are one of the most common causes of worker deaths in the country. Despite progress in health and safety practices and regulation in the UK, falls from height are the single most common cause of fatal accidents at work. In 2017/2018, falling from height was responsible for 35% of all work-related deaths. This is significantly higher than the second most common cause of death at work, being hit by a moving vehicle, which accounted for 26% of deaths.
