The work at height regulations 14 years on: has it been a success?

Image
Hi guys, Did you see our new Blog? Here's a taster. As their name suggests, The Work at Height Regulations 2005 are a set of legal requirements which must be followed by all workers and workplaces where work is being carried out at height. They were introduced as a measure to help reduce injuries and deaths caused by falls from height at work. Falls from ladders and raised work surfaces are one of the most common causes of worker deaths in the country. Despite progress in health and safety practices and regulation in the UK, falls from height are the single most common cause of fatal accidents at work. In 2017/2018, falling from height was responsible for 35% of all work-related deaths. This is significantly higher than the second most common cause of death at work, being hit by a moving vehicle, which accounted for 26% of deaths. Five reasons why a mobile scaffold tower is the best way to work at height

Image
Hi guys, Have you checked our new blog, if not here is an extract.  Mobile scaffold towers combine the best features of a number of other pieces of equipment designed for working at height. Where the conventional extension ladder excels at providing a minimal amount of added height, but at the same time lacks stability, mobile scaffold towers can do both. Likewise, where stepladders are great at providing a stable platform upon which to work, but generally lack significant height, mobile scaffold towers can do both. If you haven’t used a mobile access tower before, there are a number of reasons to consider making the change from more conventional height access equipment. Below we’ll run through five reasons why a mobile scaffold tower is the best way to work at height. Safety difference between stepladders and podium steps

Image
Hi Guys, Have you made sure to check out our recent blog? We think you should give it a read! Stepladders and the podium steps are two specialised pieces of equipment which are ideal for use in work environments which require minimal additional height. Both come in a number of different configurations for use in many specific work situations, and both have their own strengths and weaknesses. When it comes to safety, are stepladders better than podium steps? And what should you be looking for to tell if the stepladder or podium step you are using is up to the job? Below we’ll discuss some of the safety differences between the two and outline which safety features matter most in different situations. What are podium steps?

Image
Hi All, We have shared a new blog on our website all about podium steps. If this is a topic you would like to learn more on, then we have shared a quick snippet on the blog here. Ladders in their various forms are a common sight in workplaces and homes throughout the UK. No matter the job, there’s a ladder which has been designed specifically with it in mind. From the step ladder, which is good for low indoor tasks, to the telescopic ladder, which is highly adaptable for use at many different heights and scaffold towers for jobs that a ladder just doesn’t quite cut. Despite their adaptability, most conventional ladders are somewhat lacking when it comes to safety features, making them unsuitable for use in more challenging work situations. What is a tower scaffold?

Image
Hi Everyone, If we were to ask, What is a scaffold tower, what would you say? If you are not sure, then we have recently shared the perfect blog for you! There are many different types of climbing equipment, each specialised with different uses in mind. The humble ladder comes in many forms, and you’d be hard pressed to find any tradesman without one of some kind. However, when it comes to heavy-duty, on-site applications, standard ladders often aren’t enough. Besides the fact that most of them can’t reach all that high, they are too instable to be used in tandem with heavy equipment and are often not strong enough to hold a substantial amount of weight.
